Texas

Hi loyal readers! How are you doing? I am just fine myself, thank you. Do you want to know why I'm just fine? I just recently returned from vacation. Wheeeeee!!!!

I've been on a few little weekend trips to Chicago, but this is only my second actual vacation. And this one was both the longest I've been away from home and the farthest! I flew to Texas with my grandparents for my cousin's high school graduation. The vacation being with my grandparents made it a little less adventurous than I would have liked, but I had a really nice time and most of all just enjoyed being away from EVERYTHING. We left on May 28th and returned on June 4th, and I was off from work for ten days. It was awesome.

We flew into San Antonio from Nashville, and had to make an hour and a half trip from SAT to where my aunt and her family live, a tiny town in the middle of nowhere in South Texas. We visited a ranch where one of my cousins used to work, spent a day in San Antonio, spent an afternoon in Corpus Christi, and played lots of Rook. South Texas is really hot, but it's not humid like Kentucky, so I didn't mind the heat at all. I even got a little sun in San Antonio. This trip held a lot of firsts for me: first time west of the Mississippi River, first time in Texas, first time on a plane, first time on a four-wheeler, first time seeing an ocean, first time eating venison, first time eating crème brûlée (not in the same meal). I also got to meet my uncle's family, who have all lived in Texas since he was a teenager, and they were really nice. I saw lots of wildlife. I never got to see a coyote or a snake, but I'm not complaining. I was sad to leave, but very glad to be back home. That is, until my allergies started attacking again. :( But you never know how much you'll miss the hills of Kentucky until you go somewhere as low-lying and flat as Texas. Hopefully someday I'll be able to go back again, and next time maybe I'll be able to completely enjoy flying without being nervous at all.
